The model building of inflation that predicts perturbations with such a spectrum is a challenge, because most models predict fluctuations with either ns > 1 (hybrid inflation) or ns < 1 (new, chaotic, or topological inflation). We give a sensible particle physics model in supergravity that accommodates the desired running of the spectral index using double inflation.

Supergravity Modification of D-term Hybrid Inflation: Solving the Cosmic String and Spectral Index Problems via a Right-Handed Sneutrino
Supergravity corrections due to the energy density of a right-handed sneutrino can generate a negative mass squared for the inflaton, flattening the inflaton potential and reducing the spectral index and inflaton energy density. For the case of D-term hybrid inflation, we show that the spectral index can be lowered from the conventional value n = 0.98 to a value within the range allowed by the ...
متن کاملRunning of Running of the Spectral Index and WMAP Three-year data
Three-year data of WMAP implies not only a negative running of the spectral index with large absolute value, but also a large positive running of running of the spectral index with order of the magnitude 10. We calculate the running of running in usual inflation model and noncommutative inflation model. A large tensor-scalar ratio r ≥ 1.23 is needed in order to fit the WMAP data in the noncommu...
متن کاملKähler potentials for the MSSM inflation and the spectral index
Recently it has been argued that some of the fine-tuning problems of the MSSM inflation associated with the existence of a saddle point along a flat direction may be solved naturally in a class of supergravity models. Here we extend the analysis and show that the constraints on the Kähler potentials in these models are considerably relaxed when the location of the saddle point is treated as a f...
متن کاملSupergravity and Two-Field Inflation Effects in Right-Handed Sneutrino-Modified D-term Inflation
We extend previous work on the minimal D-term inflation model modified by Right-Handed (RH) sneutrino fields to include additional inflaton-sector SUGRA corrections and two-field inflation effects. We show that SUGRA corrections simultaneously allow ns to be within 3-year WMAP limits and the cosmic string contribution to the CMB power spectrum to be less than 5%. For gauge coupling g ≤ 1, the C...
متن کاملNew inflation in supergravity with a chaotic initial condition
We propose a self-consistent scenario of new inflation in supergravity. Chaotic inflation first takes place around the Planck scale, which solves the longevity problem, namely, why the universe can live much beyond the Planck time, and also gives an adequate initial condition for new inflation. Then, new inflation lasts long enough to generate primordial fluctuations for the large scale structu...
